Johnny Trinidad, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born on October 4, 1949, in Harrinsburg, Arkansas, Johnny was the beloved son of the late Apolonio and Tomasa (née de La Rosa) Trinidad.
Johnny spent his early years in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, before eventually settling in San Antonio, Texas, where he shared many joyful years with his late fiancée, Esperanza Sonnen. Together, they enjoyed attending community events and making lasting memories.
A man of simple pleasures and a generous heart, Johnny found joy in the little things: watching Western movies, listening to classic rock and roll on his radio, drawing, and crafting miniature furniture with great care and creativity. He was known for his helpful nature, always ready to lend a hand to his neighbors.
One of Johnny’s greatest joys was traveling by train to visit his oldest sister, Minnie — whom he affectionately called “Mom” in Wisconsin. He stayed closely connected to his siblings, calling them weekly to share jokes, laughter, and love. Johnny looked forward every year to the family reunions, where he could be surrounded by the people he cherished most.
He will be deeply missed by his loving siblings: Erminia Ortega, Ricardo (Gloria) Trinidad, Apolonio (Shirley) Trinidad II, Samuel Trinidad, Gloria (Steve) Trinidad, Helen (Glenn) Trinidad-Tendick, David (Linda) Trinidad, and Josephine (Shane) Gillespie; as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by his warmth and humor.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his fiancée Esperanza Sonnen, and his brother Alfredo Trinidad Sr.
Johnny’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His humor, kindness, and deep love for family will never be forgotten.
