Jon Axel Swanson, born on February 10, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 70. Jon lived a life of dedication and hard work and held deep love for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jon was a devoted husband, father, and friend, known for his warm heart, sharp wit, and the unwavering support he gave to those he loved. Jon’s friends and family will remember him as a generous man who was always ready to share his stories, knowledge, opinions, and a meal around his table.
Jon spent much of his professional life working in sales at Honeywell, where he worked for more than 35 years and was respected for his expertise, dedication, and commitment.
Outside of work, you could often find Jon working in the yard to hand-water his pristine lawn and treasured flowers or hanging out at his favorite neighborhood pool. Jon was an avid classic rock fan that traveled the country to see hundreds of his favorite bands in person. His biggest claim to rock and roll fame was that he got to see The Beatles in concert at just 10 years old. Jon was the proud owner of thousands of classic comic books, and there wasn’t a comic book movie he hadn’t seen or critiqued. Of all the superheroes, Superman remained his favorite.
While the house is much quieter now, the memory of Jon’s loud and infectious laugh will live on in the hearts and minds of family and friends. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved wife, Siobhan Swanson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Siobhan Swanson, his brother, Erik Swanson, and his parents, Shirley and Donald Swanson. Jon is survived by his four children, Axel Swanson, Gunnar Swanson, Greta Swanson, and Jennifer Champine, and four grandchildren, Zachary and Wynne Champine, Keira and Nora Hawkins, all of whom he loved deeply and was immensely proud of.
A memorial visitation will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to A Living Tribute, an organization that will plant trees in a national forest in Jon's memory.
