Jorge Colòn, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 25, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 71. Born on February 24, 1954, in the sunny coastal town of Playa De Ponce, Puerto Rico, Jorge's journey led him to touch the lives of many with his big heart, humor, passion, and adventurous spirit.
Jorge grew up in Los Angeles, California, where he attended Theodore Roosevelt High School and later continued his education at Foothill College. It was during his service in the Vietnam War that he met the love of his life, Monic, while stationed in Thailand. He taught her English, while she shared the beauty of Thai and Loas with him. Despite the language barrier, they found a way to understand each other deeply, proving that love truly speaks in its own way. The couple married just six months later, a testament to their deep love was a beautiful connection that went beyond words. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Christian and Katherine, while stationed at Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan, who were Jorge's pride and joy.
A dedicated serviceman, Jorge spent 24 years in the Air Force, where he served with distinction as a firefighter, police officer, and combat arms instructor. He carried the lessons of discipline and courage throughout his life, making an impact on all those he encountered.
Jorge's spirituality was a guiding force in his life, shaping his worldview and interactions with others. He was a man of many talents and interests, including a black belt in Okinawa Kempo. His penchant for being active was exemplified through his love of tennis by hitting the court almost daily. And Route 66 will never be the same as he embarked on several cross-country journeys on his beloved Harley.
Family was the cornerstone of Jorge's life. He cherished his loved ones traveling frequently to visit relatives across the United States. Together with Monic, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, marking half a century of love and companionship.
