

He was born on a Thursday, January 6, 1938 in Costilla, New Mexico to Moises and Idelfonsa Cordova. Hes preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Jose is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diana; daughters, Diane and husband Keith and Amanda; grandchildren, Evan, Caitlin, Roman, Logan, Rogue, and Lanita; as well as his brother Richard and sister Marilyn.
At the age of 17, Jose Cordova started serving his country honorably in the Army for 20 years. He served twice in Vietnam, 1 year in Korea, 9 years in Germany, and also at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, Ft. Carson, Colorado, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Ft. Polk, Louisiana, West Point Academy, New York, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and Ft. Bliss, Texas. He retired at the age of 37 as a Sergeant First Class. He was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal with oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal (4), Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals with device, three Oversees Bars, six Service Stripes, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Driver Badge with Driver Bar, Meritorious Service Medal, Expert (Rifle M-16), and a voluntary 24-month extension at the request of the government.
After retirement, the family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he was a house builder for 20 years. In 2006 the family moved to San Antonio, Texas.
He was an active member of the Hispanic Baptist Church. He accepted, by the grace of God, Jesus Christ as his savior. He agreed to meet his wife at the gate of Heaven. Jose was the best of everything to everyone.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North. A service will be held the following day, Friday, December 10, 2021 beginning at 12:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Evan Cordova Baker, Roman Thomas Bustos, Logan Alexander Bustos, Rogue Bustos, Jimmy Trujillo and Andrew Trujillo.
