

Jose Angel Gamez, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He was born October 2, 1952 in San Luis Potosi to Yldefonso and Alejandrina Gamez. Angel grew up in Homestead FL and met the love of his life in Michigan while doing farm work. He married his love, Diana Quintero Gamez, on November 5, 1977 in Poteet, Texas. Angel worked many jobs ranging from farm work to construction to custodial work. He retired in 2021 from Pleasanton ISD after 21 years however couldn't sit still for much longer so he started working at Poteet ISD in February of 2024. He was a humble man with a strong work ethic who took pride in all tasks, whether at work or at home, with dedication and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues, friends, and family. Angel lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, playing pool, snacking, talking about cars (or really all the ones he used to own), making others laugh, singing oldies (mainly Duke of Earl), visiting with his family when able and spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and great granddaughter.
Preceded in death by his wife Diana Quintero Gamez; parents Yldefonso and Alejandrina Gamez; paternal grandparents, Isidoro Gamez and Agapita Medina; maternal grandparents, Sabino Ruiz and Feliciana Hernandez; siblings, Petronila, Inocencio, Toribia, Juanita, Jose Eulalio, and Lucas Gamez.
Angel is survived by his daughter Milagros Gamez Quintana husband Ruben Jr; grandsons, Joshua Ledezma Jr and Jaxson Gamez Quintana; great granddaughter, Alanna Ledezma; sisters, Maria Esther Gaure husband Francisco ✝️, Guadalupe Gaure husband Juan, and Juanita Gamez Salinas husband Salvador; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A celebration of Angel's life will be held on August 17, 2024 at Angel Trevino Funeral Home 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211 at 5p, where family and friends are invited to share memories, stories, and of course, laughter in honor of a life well-lived.
Rest in peace, Angel. You have worked hard, laughed often, and loved deeply. Your daughter and grandchildren will carry forward your legacy of hard work, resilience, and joy. Though your presence will be deeply missed, the values and laughter you instilled in them will live on. Your memory will forever be a source of strength and joy for all who were fortunate enough to know you.
