He was born on March 1, 1945 in Harlingen, TX to parents, Jose and Juanita Salazar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margarita Jemenez; brother-in-law, Vincente Jemenez. Jose is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irene Serna Salazar; daughter, Iris Salazar-Torres; daughter, Sandra Salazar; son, Joseph Salazar and wife, Veronica Velasquez; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Alexis, Kylie; great-grandson, Aiden; brother, Frank Salazar and wife, Ofelia; and many nieces and nephews.
