

Jose P. Zamarripa, age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday June 15, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. Jose was a family man; he was a self-taught contractor who learned the trade as a result of having received building contruction tools from his wife. Jose was an avid gardner and grew his own fruits and vegetables for many years. Jose served as a member of the Bishopric for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many other leadership roles in the church. Jose, together with his wife Lydia, served a two-year service mission for the church from September 2004 to September 2006. Jose was born on April 12, 1933 in Seguin, Texas to parents, Jose Maximino and Maria Urbana Zamarripa. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his siblings. He was the last surviving member of the ZAMARRIPA legacy that will live on through generations to come. He will be reunited in spirit with his parents, Jose Maximino Zamarripa and Maria Urbana Portales Zamarripa, along with all of his 13 brothers and sisters who have long passed before him. What a glorious reunion it was for Jose to have been met with so much love as he passed on to the spirit world to be reunited with siblings Bruna Zamarripa (DeLeon), Felix Zamarripa, Miguel Zamarripa, Antonia Zamarripa, Gregorio Zamarripa, Consuelo Zamarripa (Anguiano), Joel Zamarripa, Guadalupe Zamarripa (Garcia), Juan Zamarripa, Anastacio Zamarripa, Anastacio (Tacho) Zamarripa, Maximo Zamarripa, and Martin Zamarripa.
Jose is survived by wife of 55 years, Lydia Dalia Zamarripa; daughter, Maria Urbana (Bonnie) Becerra (Cosme); grandsons, Nathan C. Becerra (Hilary); Zachary T. Becerra (Michelle); granddaughter, Bonnie N. Vella (Jon); daughter, Ruth Ann Aranda (Juan); grandsons, Thomas X. Aranda; Samuel S. Aranda; Aaron N. Aranda; granddaughter, Aimee D. Aranda; son, Joe G. Zamarripa (Laurie); grandsons, Jacob M. Zamarripa (Maren); Joshua D. Zamarripa (Mackenzie); granddaughter, Sarah E. Aguilera (Jordan). Jose is also survived by several great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and extended family for viewing and visitation from 4:00PM- 8:00PM, Monday June 20, 2022 at Porter Loring Mortuary West.
