Joseph “Joe” was born in Flatonia Texas to Josephine Elizabeth Krause and James Edward Kristek Sr. on July 21, 1937. As a child, he moved to Maine for a time and shared fond memories of the family’s time there.
Joe proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp from 1955 - 1963. While in the Marines he traveled throughout the United States and to many countries including India, Japan, Korea, and Germany. He enjoyed sharing his experiences with us over the years and was proud of his service.
He married his beloved Patsy on November 12,1960 in San Antonio. When asked how they met, she would say Joe came into the Double Dip ice cream parlor, took her hand, and that was it. They were married for 65 years. Together they built a wonderful family whom he enjoyed spending time with over the years.
Joe loved fishing at the coast, going out to eat on Friday nights with the family, learning about history and technology, collecting, and cooking. He loved to bake and could often be found printing off new recipes to try and ordering kitchen “gadgets” to help in the process.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife Patsy Kristek, Josephine Krause (Mother), James E. Kristek Sr. (Father), James Kristek (Brother), and Jean Kristek (Sister).
Joe is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Muehlstein (Glen) and Stephanie Kristek, grandchildren Megan Scheurer (Rick), Zachary Muehlstein (Stephanie), great-grandchildren, Olivia Scheurer, Brooks Scheurer, Baby Muehlstein, numerous nieces and nephews, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandy Gott (Gerald), Alton Sales (Linda), Brenda Wise, Debbie Poole, Dennis Sales (Debbie).
