'Words cannot express the aching in my heart for the loss of my wonderful son. Joshua was the light of my life, it was always just the two of us, especially since the passing of his father 22 years ago. I could always count on my tall, strong, handsome son for anything I needed, all I had to do was call him. Thank you everyone for your condolences, it shows what a special person Joshua was. He was such a good child, I always said that if I could've had six boys just like him, I would've, but he was truly one in a million. He's with his dad now playing together for the angels.'

'Josh taught my son, Tristan Ayers, how to read music and play guitar. Tristan started taking lessons from Josh when Tristan was 6 years old and continued with lessons from Josh until he was going into the 6th grade and we moved from San Antonio. Josh was so patient with Tristan as he learned to read music, count the notes and play guitar. There was a long period of time that Josh taught Tristan that he was not getting paid because he was no longer with the school where Tristan had a scholarship. Josh never told me this until after the fact. Just shows what a wonderful person he was and that he really cared about Tristan and continuing to teach him and not just the money. Tristan asked Josh if he would come to his elementary school and play some songs with Tristan for his Christmas party. Josh complied and showed up just as he promised! Darlene you may remember us because we went out to eat with you and Josh after a concert of Josh's students (?) Tristan made Josh a picture that was framed. I believe it was a fake 1 million dollar bill that said "thank you for teaching me to play guitar" and Tristan signed it. Josh kept it in the front room where he taught in the house by the base for a lot of years. Tristan started out with a teeny tiny beginner's guitar and his next guitar was black because Josh had a black guitar! Josh always introduced Tristan to music that kids his age wouldn't know about. Tristan's favorite was Johnny Cash Ring of Fire! I wish that I had the pictures of Josh teaching Tristan and when he went to the school, so that I could share them for his collage. I was sorry to hear about his accident and his passing, but know that he is free from the bonds of this earth and playing in the band in heaven! This life is short compared to eternity and we will all get there eventually and see each other again.'
