Joshua Steven Montoya

Joshua Steven Montoya, born July 12, 1990, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2016. Josh was loved by everyone he met. He had a heart of gold and was the kindest, most loving person, just like his mother. He loved to eat and was a huge movie buff, his favorites being horror movies.

Josh joins his beloved mother, Frances Martinez Montoya; aunt, Elisabeth Montoya; and uncle, Ralph Martinez in our heavenly kingdom. He is survived by his loving grandmothers, Carmen Johnson (Buela) and Paula Martinez; father, Alfred Montoya, wife, Cheryl, sister, Elisabeth, and step-brother, John; as well as his aunts (Sandra Johnson, Jeri Rivera, Mary Johnson, Priscilla Martinez, Paulita Martinez, Cindy Martinez); uncles (Edgar Montoya, Greg Adams, Gerald Johnson, Patrick Martinez, Jeffrey Martinez, Raul Martinez); cousins (Kristy Johnson (Carlos Carillo), Monica (Daniel) Pena, Lauren Trevino, Matthew Trevino, Nicholas Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Calandria Martinez, Stephanie Escobedo, Mercie Villarreal, Joe Talavera II, Jocelyn Martinez, Skyler Martinez) and 9 great-cousins.

Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, with a Rosary recital at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral procession departs Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home (2525 Palo Alto Rd) on Thursday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass, celebrated at St. John Berchman’s Catholic Church (1147 Cupples Rd). Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery No. 3 (Roselawn).
