

Joyce Stewart Craanen of San Antonio passed with her daughter by her side on Saturday evening, January 22, 2011 at Morningside Manor after an arduous battle with Alzheimer's. The Lord released her of her suffering and took her into His arms.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and mom to many. She was a native Texan, raised in Austin. Joyce loved her country and proudly displayed her patriotism and had served as an officer in the American Legion 20th District and Elks Lodge No. 16.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Stewart; father, Loran Stewart; her sister, Wanda Stewart; and her brothers, Earl Adair Stewart and Loran Dale Stewart.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Diana L. Jackson and her husband, Ken; her son, Norman Craanen and his sons, Kyle and Jacob who were the delights of her life; her sister, Anita Kurtz; her brother, Forrest Stewart and his wife, Karen; her beloved nephew, Fred Stewart and his wife, Fran; along with many other nieces and nephews; as well as Chris Ryan the mother of Kyle and Jacob.
