

Johnny was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Juan H. and Julia G. Martinez on June 20, 1960. He went to school at Corpus Christi. He married Irma Gonzales on July 18, 1981 in Corpus Christi. He graduated from Moody High School. He worked as a Tire Specialist for Autozone for more than 15 years. He was involved in Antique Hot Rod & Muscle Car Shows for Moody High School as a member, volunteered at various nursing homes in Corpus Christi, treasurer for Woodmen of the World life insurance Lodge#2126, volunteered for citizens on patrol/Fox Den subdivision, performed at end of year for academic excellence/Entertainment at Kostoryz Elementary School in Corpus Christi, helped at Awana (bible based youth ministry) club as a volunteer, volunteered at annual Open House events for Windcrest Santa. He received Doctor’s Regional Medical Center for the “Best Boss” award Housekeeping Dept, 100% Family Membership award Woodmen of the World Lodge#2126, Tire Specialist award, Marriott Safety Training award, Best Student Performance/Auto Systems Auto Zone. Achievements: Assistant Manager/Chief Auto Parts, Supervisor/Marriott Corporation, Lead salesman/Auto Zone & Chief Auto Parts.

Johnny Martinez is survived by (Spouse) Irma G. Martinez, (Children) Jennifer Crystal Castillo, Joshua Sid Martinez (son’s spouse) Kim Martinez, (Sister) Irma Q. Espinoza (sister’s spouse) Roy Espinoza, (Grandchildren) Ava Lucille Martinez, Zoe Amelia Castillo, Zyler Xavier Castillo, many surviving cousins, nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11A.M. Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Journey Fellowship Church, 16847 I-35, Selma, Texas 78154 with Mike Bradford, Elder of Journey Fellowship Church, officiating. Reception to follow 1 P.M. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home & Journey Fellowship Church.
