Juan V. Sanchez went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2011 at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife, Lupe R. Sanchez; children, Lydia Sanchez Casas, Lulu Sanchez Mayer, John N. Sanchez (Bernice), James M. Sanchez, Rose Jane Sanchez-Lai (Francis), Robert C. Sanchez (Mary), Louis E. Sanchez, Elaine Sanchez, and 18 grandchildren. Surviving siblings include: Jessie Sanchez Riojas, Raul Sanchez, and Virginia Sanchez Carrillo. Mr. Sanchez, a US Air Force World War II veteran, served in the Burma/China/India Theater. He retired after 39 years of employment with the San Antonio Air Logistics Command, Kelly Air Force Base. His volunteer work included COPS, Project Quest, Los Padrinos –Las Palmas Library, AFGE Local 1617, American Legion Alamo Post #2 and Knights of Columbus Council 9730. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church followed by a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando No.2 Cemetery.
