She was born March 15, 1918, in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Orvel and Lavina Coon. She graduated from Amarillo High School and earned her RN Degree at St. Anthony Hospital, graduating in 1939. Juanita married Windell Wayne Cannon, Sr. in 1938.
She was an avid painter and poet. In the 1960's she sold a facial exerciser that earned national attention. A devoted grandmother, Juanita was very witty, honest and slow to anger.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orvel Coon; mother, Lavina McCarty; stepmother, Etta Coon; and stepfather, George Washington Terry.
Juanita is survived by her son, Windell W. Cannon and wife Cammie; daughter, Melda Sue Allder and husband Bill; brother, James McCarty and wife Karen; grandchildren, Darrow Cannon, Bret (Ladonna) Cannon, David (Tracy) Heaton, Amanda (Justin) Kinnamon, Amelia Cannon and Mathew Allder; thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. We are grateful for the staff of Guadalupe Regional Hospice for their tender care of Grandma.
