Juanita R Valdez born in Carrizo Springs, Tx. on Feb. 8,1924, went to be with the Lord, October 17, 2012 at the age of 88. She lived most of her married life in San Antonio, Tx. Although her role as wife and mother were her priority, over the years she wore many hats which included a short stint as security at the Solo Serve Dept. stores to running restaurant businesses along side her husband, Manuel, in San Antonio & Atascosa. Owners of "Juanita's Food to Go" near Ft. Sam Houston on Walters St. for many years, they moved on to operate "Luckey Corner Cafe"in Atascosa where they hosted many softball tournaments, to later "retiring" to cook at mall food court restaurants leaving only to care for her ailing husband. In whatever role God had for her, wife, mother, grandmother, relative or friend, Juanita spent her life serving others. Whether working in her home, with family and friends, or in the restaurants, she spent countless hours preparing fabulous dishes for others with a smile. She set a quiet humble example of love and servanthood. Tireless and strong to the end, she met every challenge in life with the same determined resilience and drew her strength from her relationship with God to overcome and persevere until He called her Home. She is preceded in death by her husband Manuel S. Valdez; sisters Maria Rocha Hernandez and Florentina Rocha Gomez; brother Paz Rocha; grandsons William Cano and Eric Andrew Valdez. Mrs. Valdez is survived by her children Manuel R. Valdez & wife Mary, Sandra Valdez Pena & husband Ernest, Mario Valdez & wife Bernadette; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren; sister Consuelo Rodriguez; sister in law Pauline Rocha, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
