Mr. Julian V. Martinez Jr. is remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother & uncle. He was born and raised in the westside of San Antonio, Texas graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1967. He will be buried at Ft. Sam Houston.
He was 77 years old and led a beautiful life, going above and beyond for his family. He was also dedicated to helping others. He passed the early morning of 2/20/25 surrounded by his wife and children.
He served his country in the United States ARMY as a Specialist in the United States Military Police Corps during the Vietnam Era.
He returned to San Antonio after his service and received his Associates of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from San Antonio College. He continued his education at UTSA.
He started his career in law enforcement working as a Bexar County Sheriff Deputy, ultimately becoming a Captain for the Sheriffs Office.
He chose to pursue an opportunity becoming an investigator with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office where he retired as the White Collar Crimes Investigations Coordinator after 39 years of service in Bexar County.
He assisted the Texas Rangers with the Suzan McFarland murder case that was turned into a book written by Diane Fanning called Gone Forever. He acquired multiple awards from local, state and federal agencies such as the DEA and FBI. The Hidalgo Award, Bexar County’s highest honor, was presented to Julian V. Martinez, Jr. by The Bexar County Commissioners Court for honorably serving his community on 11/20/2007.
He joins his parents Julian & Lydia Martinez and brother Bob “Bobby” Martinez in heaven. Coming from a family of twelve siblings, the surviving: Edward Martinez, Albert Martinez, Margaret Salazar, Rose Lopez, Mary May Jimenez, Benny Martinez, Cindy Ortega, Genevieve Gonzales, Sarah Ordonez, and Christina Martinez. He was survived by his wife of 53 years, Consuelo Martinez. 4 children: Julian Martinez III, Santos Martinez, Mr. Theodore Galindo IV & Mrs. Julie Galindo and Mr. Michael Bias & Allyssa Michelle Martinez Bias. He had 10 grandchildren: Jewel Martinez, Vivian Contreras, Madison Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Kaitlin Martinez, Jillian Martinez, Jenna Martinez, Theodore Galindo V, Tristan Galindo and Julian Martinez IV.
A Rosary Service will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary located at 1101 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, TX, 78212 on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 350 Sutton Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78228 on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
