

Julian Salazar, born July 20, 1934 in Floresville, Texas. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on August 13, 2024 at the age of 90. He is preceded in death by his mother Juanita Garza and other family and loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Guadalupe Salazar; His two loving daughters Patty (Peter) Arguello and Sandy (Ray) Collazo; His two sisters, Angie Barrera and Mary (Mando) Reyna, who were also their travel buddies. Stepsons David (Rosie), John (Isabel), and Andrew (Darlene); Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as nephews and nieces.
Julian was a hard working man starting in construction which introduced him to the Iron Workers Union Local 66. Working his way up to break barriers and become the first hispanic board member in 1978, where he held the position of Vice President and paved the way for all current and future minorities to excel and be given opportunities to hold positions on the board. Upon retiring from the Iron Workers, he then embarked on a new journey with his wife establishing J Salazar Trucking. Upon retiring a second time, they were fortunate to travel and see different parts of the world and frequently visiting casinos in Nevada and surrounding areas with his travel buddies. Of all his travels he enjoyed his monthly visits for Sunday morning mass at Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle - National Shrine. You could also find him every Wednesday at the VFW playing the slot machines.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd. 78211 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Tuesday, August 27, 2024 a Mass of Resurrection will be Celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will continue to celebrate his life with lunch at the VFW, 3111 Commercial Ave. 78221 following the Interment
