Julie Herring Edwards was born on September 17, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Herman Julius Blank and Jessie (Jessica) Dell McKennon. She passed away on January 20, 2026, after a short illness, surrounded by her family. She spent the majority of her life in San Antonio, a city that remained the constant backdrop to her long and meaningful journey.
Julie’s early years included living in several Texas communities. She attended New Braunfels High School, proudly identifying with the Unicorns, and later lived in Eagle Pass, Texas, where she graduated from Eagle Pass High School as an Eagle. These formative years helped shape the independent, capable woman she became.
Julie continued her education at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, further developing the discipline and determination that would guide her throughout her personal and professional life.
For nearly 50 years, Julie worked as a dedicated and respected real estate agent. She also served as an office manager at Home Team Realtors for almost 20 years, where her reliability, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the business left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
Music was one of Julie’s lifelong passions. An accomplished piano player, she shared her talent generously, playing piano at various churches throughout her life. Her faith was important to her, and she was a member of The Fellowship of San Antonio.
Julie was known as the keeper of family history and stories—someone who remembered details, connections, and lore, and passed them along with great care. Julie loved animals deeply, especially her cats—Morgey, Little Mikey, and Charlie—often preferring their quiet companionship.
Julie is survived by her three children and their families: daughter Julia Page Herring-Findley; son Gary Herring and his wife, Karen; and son Ross Herring. She was a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren: Spencer Elizabeth, Zachary, and Noah.
Julie also shared a close friendship with her best friend Jim Joslyn, whose presence and companionship for over 30 years was held close to her heart. She formed many friendships throughout her life, including a cherished lifelong friendship since grade school, with Mary Ann Queen of New Braunfels, Texas. She also held close relationships with her extended family, especially her cousin Howard Cagle of Calallen, Texas.
Julie Herring Edwards will be remembered for her young-minded nature, musical gift, devotion to family, and love of her cats. Her life leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A private service to celebrate Julie’s life will be held in the upcoming weeks.
