June Sanders Taylor, loving mother, grandmother and aunt, age 84, passed away on May 1st, 2024, due to complications from pneumonia in San Antonio, Texas. June is survived by her daughter, Susan Ferris (Timothy); daughter-in-law, Donna Gudeczauskas; grandchildren, Dylan Gudeczauskas and Deanna Gudeczauskas; and her sister, Martha Sue Sanders Bagent. June’s much loved other siblings preceded her in death, as well as her parents and her beloved son, Daniel E. Gudeczauskas, Jr.
June grew up in Luverne, Alabama and was the youngest of ten children. In 1957 she married a young USAF service member, who became the father of her two children, and then spent 22 years living the military spouse life that included establishing a family home in a new city or a new country every couple of years. In 1976 the family moved to San Antonio and June quickly became involved in the local real estate community. First as a Realtor and later as a mortgage loan officer. She excelled at both endeavors and was proud to have helped so many families realize their dream of owning a home before retiring in 2007. June’s ability to relate to people was her special gift. When you spoke with June, you received her full attention and her best advice – always dispensed with grace and humor.
June made the best of life. She was a licensed private pilot, rode dirt bikes with the family, and was a voracious reader. She traveled extensively, loved music, loved sewing clothes for her family, and loved making all kinds of arts and crafts. During her children’s childhood she was active in the PTA, Rainbow Girls, DeMolay and was a baseball team mom. She served on the Alamogordo, NM city council as corresponding secretary and as treasurer for the Mayor’s Bicentennial committee. June enjoyed belonging to the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron. She was also active in Beta Sigma Phi and served as her local chapter president. Above all June loved her family and friends and was always happiest when in their company. June was an extraordinarily capable woman with great talents, and she used those talents to serve her family and others all her life.
A celebration of life will be held on May 11th at 3pm at Porter Loring North, 2102 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX 78232.
