June Taubert Walker

June Taubert Walker, born July 10, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2014. She was a lifelong, faithful Catholic and a loving mother and grandmother affectionately known as GJ, short for Grandma June. She enjoyed home decorating, gardening and was a gifted artist.

She was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Susanne Johnson and her husband John Walker. She is survived by her sister Mary Sue Burke and husband Bill; daughter Susie Stouffer and husband Greg; son Jim Taubert and wife Alberta; grandchildren Kate, Amanda and Travis Stouffer; Jordan Jackson and husband Jonathan; Audrey Stewart and husband Brandon; and great-grandchildren Jacy, Jayli and Jaylynn Jackson. The family thanks the staff at Emeritus Hamilton House and Vitas Hospice for the love and care provided to June.

Visitation will take place in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel Monday February 17 at 6pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. A funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday February, 18 at St Matthew Catholic Church followed by a committal service at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence High School (June Ann Johnson, Class of 1953) or the Alzheimer’s Association.
