She was born Karen Jean Haberkorn on July 10, 1958, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Kenneth and Maxine Haberkorn. She graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. Karen went on to join the Civil Service, retiring in 2013 after completing over 30 years of service.
Karen married Paul Richardson on June 8, 2001, in San Antonio.
When Karen was not reading or baking some of her delicious desserts or treats, she was shopping for gifts to give others.
She is survived by husband Paul, parents Kenneth & Maxine Haberkorn, son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Desiree Smith, granddaughter Marci Smith, sister Joyce Tibbetts, brother Kent Haberkorn, 4 nephews and 1 niece.
A service to honor Karen's memory will be held at 10:30 a.m. on January 7, 2026 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio.
