Katherine Josephine Dotson

Katherine learned to speak Polish, German and Spanish from an early age and graduated from Incarnate Word High School, continuing her study of languages at Incarnate Word College. Katherine married Jay Dotson on 07/25/1959 and they raised 5 children together. When her children were old enough, she returned to the workforce and did the payroll for Luby’s Cafeteria until she retired. She always loved to sing and often added her voice to the various choirs at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Alex Mutz and Agnes Broll, her husband, Jay Dotson, her daughter, Donna Dotson Spear, her son Donald Dotson and her son-in-law Henry Lara.

Katherine is survived by daughters Diana Dotson Lara and Debbie Dotson Myrick (Larry); son Danny Dotson; grandchildren Danielle Myrick Ciccarelli (Daniel), Larry Myrick III (Jessica), Cody Lara (Allie), Jay Dotson (Manasa), Troy Lara, and Alex Dotson (Destiny). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Gabriel Ciccarelli, Donna Myrick, Daisy Myrick, Ava Ciccarelli, Katie Myrick, Christopher Ciccarelli, Aubree Myrick, Simon Myrick, Maya Dotson, Charlotte Lara, Nova Dotson, Malia Dotson, Milo Myrick, Caroline Lara and Eli Dotson.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Ciccarelli, Larry Myrick III, Cody Lara, Jay Dotson, Troy Lara and Alex Dotson.

Visitation will be from 6pm – 8pm with the Rosary at 7pm on Tuesday, 06/24/25 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 4411 Moana Drive, San Antonio, Tx 78218.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, 06/25/25 at St. Thomas More. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 17501 Nacogdoches Road. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home.

We, the family of Katherine Dotson, wish to extend our sincere thanks to the Brookdale Memory Care Unit, Carol Ann’s Home, Concho Hearts Hospice, the nurses and doctors at Northeast Baptist Hospital and OpusCare Hospice for their loving care of our mom while she battled Alzheimer’s for several years. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to our mom in her final years.
