Kathleen K. Hempel

Kathleen was born in Moulton, Texas to Arthur and Otillia Schulte.

She worked as a waitress for many years at various restaurants but she always talked about when she worked at the St. Anthony Hotel stating they were very strict in those days and that is where she got her best training for her career. She loved bowling and especially 9-pin bowling and often she and Bob would travel to 9-pin tournaments on the weekends. After their retirement, they made many trips to Las Vegas and Coushatta Casino.

She married Ervin (Bob) Hempel on November 26, 1945 and were married for 69 years until his death in 2014. They had three children.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Hempel, and son, Michael W. Hempel, her grandson, Elroy A. Friesenhahn; her brothers, Lawrence, Benjamin, and Arthur Schulte; and sister, Patricia Robertson.

She is survived by daughters, Shirley Friesenhahn (Elroy) and Beverly Downs; daughter-in-law, Merlie Hempel; grandsons, Matthew Friesenhahn (Laurie), Joshua Hempel (Michelle), Jacob Hempel (Danielle); 5 great-grandchildren; Bryson, Corbyn, Katie, Carson and Ella Friesenhahn.
