

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kum Son Zimmerman, age 81, on April 6, 2025. Born in Korea on October 12, 1943, Kum Son was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyong Ho and Yong Yi Ham, and three siblings. Kum Son is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Herbert J. Zimmerman Sr.; her son, Herbie (Kristi) Zimmerman; and her adored grandsons, Herbie III and Aiden Zimmerman.
Kum Son was a woman of strong character and deep love for her family. She took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her unwavering support and boundless love for her family and friends were evident in all she did.
Her educational journey and professional life were marked by dedication and perseverance, though it was her personal endeavors that truly defined her. Kum Son found joy in every aspect of life, whether it was tending to her beautiful garden, creating intricate designs through sewing, or transforming any space into a beautiful home with her keen eye for interior design. She was passionate about animals, and her two loyal dogs, Shadow and Rose, were constant companions by her side.
Kum Son’s home was always a gathering place for friends and family. She had a knack for hosting extravagant dinner parties where no one ever left hungry, and her kitchen was a place of laughter, warmth, and love. She had a deep sense of community, and her friendliness and neighborly spirit were well-known to all who crossed her path. Kum Son's meticulous landscaping and vibrant gardens made her yard the pride of every neighborhood she lived in.
Above all, Kum Son will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. Her legacy of creating beautiful memories will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The Zimmerman family will host a private service for Kum Son and she will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Kum Son’s memory will live on in the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
