

LaRén Antoinette Garcia was born on July 14, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Jose Francisco Garcia and Gloria Marroquin Puente.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Francisco Garcia; her stepfather, Epimenio (Manuel) Puente; her grandparents, Humberto Marroquin and Lidia Ortiz Marroquin, Rafael Garcia and Margarita Garcia; her uncle, Humberto Marroquin, Jr., (infant); and her great-great-aunt, Elvira Rodriguez.
LaRén was a beautiful, loving, and very generous daughter with a very big heart and a beautiful infectious smile. She would brighten up a room wherever she went. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School in 2001 where she loved playing basketball and volleyball. She received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Business from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2008, and 2021, respectively. LaRén loved to go swimming, especially to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, Texas. She would buy season pass tickets and she and her mother would go every summer. Her family would also accompany her on several occasions to Schlitterbahn. Her best friends were Candace Roddam and her sister Crystal Dennison, and George Tays. She loved the Houston Astros and went with her family to see them win the World Championship in 2022, in Houston, Texas. Her favorite baseball player was Alex Bregman. LaRén also loved “Elvis” so she along with her mother, Aunt Becky and Uncle Ramiro went to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee in December, 2022. Her love language was gift-giving. She loved going out of her way to give someone the perfect gift. She loved basketball, especially the San Antonio Spurs. Her favorite basketball players were Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant. Her favorite quote from Kobe Bryant was “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” She also loved riding roller coasters, and playing board games, especially Taboo and Monopoly; her favorite show was “Friends.” LaRén had a dog named Snuggle Bear that she loved a lot for the 17 years that she had him.
LaRén will live on through the beautiful memories she created with her family and friends, and all the joy she brought her mother. She left an indelible mark that will not be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by family and friends and all who were blessed to know her. Her love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she left behind, but she will never be forgotten.
LaRén is survived by her mother, Gloria Marroquin Puente, her sister, Casandra R. Castro, whom she loved dearly and her husband, Zaqueo (Zaq) Castro; her niece and nephew, Gabriela and Caleb Castro; her aunts, Diana M. Martinez and husband Antonio (Tony) Martinez, Leticia (Letty) M. Gonzales and husband Ruben Gonzales, Rebecca (Becky) M. Rivera and husband Ramiro U. Rivera; her uncles, Rudy Garcia and wife Suzanne Garcia, John Garcia and wife Carolyn Garcia, and aunt Chris Garcia. LaRén is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:30-6:30 P.M., on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas, with a Rosary to follow from 7:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Road, San Antonio, Texas.
