Laverne was born in Fairland, Oklahoma to Ernest and Ella Quandt on August 8, 1935. She went to school in Fairland. She married John E. Cox on April 16, 1957, in Fairland, Oklahoma. She worked as a homemaker and also helped care for her granddaughter.
Laverne is preceded in death by her husband John.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
