

Viewing will be at 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 8, at Sunset Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A celebration of his life service will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, November 9, at Sunset Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Lewis, Pastor of New Life Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church or a mission of your choosing in lieu of flowers. Leo was born December 20, 1921 in Providence, Rhode Island. He served his country from May 1942 to April 1946. He was a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army when he was honorably discharged. He was an Engineering Representative for General Electric Jet Engines and retired in 1988.
Leo was a loving husband and father. He loved his country. He believed in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1953. He enjoyed attending church, listening to praise and worship music, reading his Bible, and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs.
Leo is survived by his wife, Lynn Bartelson, three daughters, Deborah Elliott of San Antonio, Sharol Stedham and her husband, Donny Stedham of Haslet, TX, and Michelle Weldin of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Melissa Wentz of Kenna, WV, Paul Elliott of San Antonio and William C. Durand of San Antonio; and great grandchildren Dalton, Delani, and Deandra Wentz. He was preceded in death by first wife, Gladys Bartelson.
