

As a child, Leonard moved to Flagler, Colorado. He graduated from high school in Flagler and joined the U.S. Army. He served in WW II, entering Japan at the end of the war, and was later reactivated during the Korean Conflict. Leonard had four sisters and four brothers. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings except his sister Eleanor, and his brother Ronald.
Leonard married Ruth Wallace on March 29, 1947. He and Ruth had just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary before his death. Leonard and Ruth had six children, Jr. who passed away in 2003, Jerry, Debra, Danny, Arlen, and Pamela. Leonard has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Leonard was employed as a farmer in Siebert, Colorado until the dust bowl in the 1940's. He then went to work in the soil conservation project on the plains of Colorado and Kansas for many years. He later worked for the U.S. Civil Service System on the missile project at the Pueblo Army Depot and then at the Marine Air Base in Yuma, Arizona where he retired in 1988. After his retirement, he and Ruth relocated to San Antonio, TX to be near family.
