Leonard was a loving, determined, caring, stubborn, generous, funny, and athletic man. An accomplished percussionist who grew up in Brooklyn, he attended Juilliard School of Music and played in the Navy Band during WWII. Upon discharge from the Navy, he became the principal percussionist in the San Antonio Symphony, where he played for many years. By his mid-30's, he also moonlighted at his father-in-law's clothing store. He later purchased the store and spent many more of his professional years as a clothier.
In his spare time, Leonard found time to raise a family, complete 37 marathons and innumerable 10K and 5K runs, play some tennis, swim during the summer months, and make friends.
Upon retirement, Leonard and his wife traveled a bit, but mostly focused on his family, friends, tennis, and jogging (and then speed-walking). He was a regular at the State and National Senior Games.
But to those who will miss him the most, he will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents, his wife Jeannette, and his Brother Eli. He is survived by his wife Beth, his daughter Carla and her husband Steve, his son Michael and his wife Becky, his grandchildren Austin, Jaycee, and Jillian, and his sister Sweety.
