Les Parks passed on to heaven May 3, 2011. He was born in Clifton Mills, KY, February 13, 1923. A veteran of World War II, after 27 ½ years of service, he retired in 1969. Upon retirement, he began a second career with Frost Bros., managing the downtown San Antonio store until his full retirement in 1987.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Effie & Hubert Parks, and brother, Morris Parks. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elva Parks, three daughters, Donna Cowan, Kristin Parks & Robert Walz and their two children, Wyatt and Morgan, and Amy & her husband. He is also survived by three brothers, Homer, Edwin & his wife Emma, James & his wife Violet, and two special friends, Pamela & Keith Kinney.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:30AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to either The Will Smith Foundation, PO Box 86, Waring, TX 78074 or to the Animal Defense League, 11300 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, TX 78217.
