

September 11, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and his officer rank from the The University of Mississippi.
While at 'Ole Miss' he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega and manager of the football team. He entered the U.S. Army in WWII and volunteered for the Army Air Corps.
He trained to fly transport aircraft and was assigned to the China-Burma-India Theater. He was one of the 'Hump' pilots, flying supplies over the Himalayas into China
to the soldiers fighting the Japanese. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal, as well as other medals.
After his military service he became a pilot for Eastern Air Lines, flying for them for 34 years and working as a Vice President of Administration. He also was one of the founders of the Retired Eastern Pilots Association, later serving as president of the organization.
He lived in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area from 1966 to 1993, when he moved to San Antonio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Cole
Transou and Lyde Currie Transou; his wife Jane McCoy Transou; a daughter, Christina Transou; and a granddaughter, Taylor Burchfield. He is survived by his children: Lynda Transou and husband, Gregg Loso of Dallas; Anne Burchfield and husband, Andrew of San Antonio; Lane Transou of Houston; and Michelle Neary and husband John of Pullman, Washington. His grandchildren: Andrea Burchfield, Katie Burchfield, Laura Burchfield, John Neary and Michael Neary. And his many, many
friends.
