

Linda Lee Hill Dreyer passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, in San Antonio, TX. Linda was born on May 11, 1939, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the only child of John Maurice Hill and Helen Wilhelmina James Hill.
Linda cherished her childhood memories of her days with her mother and father on her grandparents’ farm in Lamoni, Iowa. There she had many pets, including her cherished pet frog, Sally. She loved to share stories of her childhood with her grandchildren.
As a young woman, Linda attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, where she majored in sacred music, music education and cello. She became a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. There she met William Ernest Dreyer, who became her husband of nearly 60 years and she became his Kappa Alpha Rose.
As a mother, Linda was committed to supporting her family, acting as a school volunteer, room mother and a Girl Scout leader and used her seamstress skills to make clothes for her children. She loved to cook for her family, making elaborate meals for Bill’s frequent business dinners and in celebration of each of the U.S. Presidents’ birthdays.
She also engaged in philanthropic work. She was a founding regent of the Mary Hempstead Lisa chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Chesterfield, Missouri, was an active member of Chapter AU, P.E.O., was a lifelong benefactor of William Jewell College, served as a board member of Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, was a founding benefactor of the Topeka Performing Arts Center, and led the restoration of the Carousel in the Park at the Topeka Zoo.
Linda enjoyed a varied career. She was the only middle school music teacher in Cape Girardeau, MO. She also worked as a tax preparer and an enrolled IRS agent and taught piano to many students over the years, including a young Rush Limbaugh in Cape Girardeau.
Linda was a very active member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church where she was a reception desk greeter, worked at the Hope Center, taught Adult and Children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and completed the Walk to Emmaus.
Linda had many hobbies and interests, and in particular was very involved with music and performing arts. She loved jazz, sacred and classical music. She was a cellist for the Kansas City Philharmonic and the Emory University Chamber Orchestra in Atlanta. She also directed the church choir at Longview United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
Linda also loved needlework, doing crafts with her children and grandchildren, reading Agatha Christie novels, sitting on the beach, and tending to her large family of indoor and outdoor cats.
Linda is survived by, Husband, William Ernest Dreyer; Daughters, Elizabeth Dreyer Norris and Susan Dreyer Brysacz; Sons-in-Law, Thomas Edwin Norris and Matthew Snyder Brysacz; Grandchildren, James Dreyer Norris, William Edwin Norris, Caroline Hill Brysacz, John Emerson Brysacz, and William Hardin Brysacz; God Daughter, Catherine Doan Bland; God Granddaughters, Susannah Catherine Bland and Sarah Elizabeth Bland.
