August 26, 1942-June 27, 2015
Linda Elizabeth Lyons died peacefully in her sleep on June 27, 2015. She was born in 1942 to William J. Lyons and Bernice Beyer Lyons. She is survived by her brother, William J. Lyons Jr. (Tina), children Wade Glasscock (Susan), and Elaine Olivier (Pierre), grandchildren Joseph and Luke Glasscock, Megan McLain, Nicholas Olivier and Claire Olivier, nieces Gini Lyons Ingari and Elizabeth Lyons, and nephew Robert Lyons.
Linda graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1960 and began a tradition of yearly reunions with her closest friends which continued until she became ill. She was a talented artist in many mediums and enjoyed writing letters and poetry. She loved to cook and to shop and had an infallible sense of style that served her well.
She owned and managed Wagner and Chabot General Store and Hardscrabble Café in Blanco, Texas in a historic building on the town square which she lovingly restored. She is beloved by her former employees, and other Blanco residents whom she came to know when she moved to her parents' vacation home on the old Pehl homestead in 1997.
Linda, together with her brother Bill, the President of Los Leones, owned and managed the family business, Casa Rio, (and later Schilo's) in downtown San Antonio. Casa Rio was the first restaurant on the San Antonio Riverwalk, and was founded in 1946 by their grandfather, Alfred F. Beyer. Linda was justifiably proud of her family's place in the history of the development of the San Antonio Riverwalk, and gratified to see it continue into the 4th generation.
Linda never ceased to be grateful for life's blessings. She was loving and supportive of her friends and family and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be at Porter Loring 1101 McCullough on Sunday, July 5 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 6 at 3 pm at St. David's Episcopal Church, 1300 Wiltshire Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78209
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Lydia Keys- Administrator and should be mailed to Colonial Gardens, 10 Lynn Batts Lane, San Antonio, TX 78218.
