Linda (Kaszubowski) Moore, 79, died of advanced dementia on April 18, 2023. She was accomplished in many ways (her education, marriage, career, family, friends and amazing cooking skills). However, the important things to know about Linda were that she loved people, babies, wiener dogs, good food, books, music, Hawaii, and any dessert with raspberries.
Prior to her illness, Linda spent her life in Oklahoma City where she loved and excelled in school. She graduated from Harding High School in 1961 where she met and later married the love of her life, John Moore. On every picture of himself in her yearbook, he wrote, “I love you. John.”
Linda laughed easily and made many friends in her years at Harding. She went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma where she pledged Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
After college, Linda taught high school English at Northwest Classen High School. After the birth of her child, she went to work at Liberty National Bank, introducing the automatic teller machine (ATM). During her 15 years at Liberty, she made many lifelong friends, became the first woman ever to graduate from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, and became a Vice President. She loved making commercials for the bank and won several Addy awards during that time. As the granddaughter of Polish immigrants, her favorite project for the bank was raising money for the renovation of the Statue of Liberty’s Centennial Campaign in 1986. For that work, she received the Freedom Foundation’s George Washington Honor Medal.
After leaving Liberty, Linda helped her husband with his drycleaning business until his death from cancer in 1993. Afterward, she spent many years managing the book store at Church of the Servant United Methodist Church. This job was perfect for her because it combined her love of people with her love of books.
After Linda became a grandmother, she enjoyed buying many books and little gifts for her three granddaughters. She also enjoyed time with her beloved wiener dog, Rachel, and spending time with friends.
Prior to dementia Linda led a very full life. In 2013, Linda moved to San Antonio, TX to be near her daughter, Erin, son-in-law, and granddaughters. In her mind and heart, Oklahoma City remained her home. Even when her memories and understanding began to fade, her smile remained.
Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort in knowing that Linda and John are together again. She is survived by her daughter Erin, son-in-law Ben, granddaughters Jenna, Katherine and Taylor, Brother Ty and husband Mike, Sister Lorrie and husband Scott, nieces Emily and Allison.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband John Moore, parents Ed and Billie Kaszubowski, her sister Karen Kaszubowski and son-in-law Blake Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Church of the Servant United Methodist Church, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73142 followed by coffee and desserts.
We are full of gratitude for the outstanding care given to Linda in the last five years by St. Francis Nursing Home and the Seraphic Sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Nursing Home, 630 W. Woodlawn Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212.
