

Lloyd was born in Orange, Texas to J.V. and Mary McDonald on December 30, 1945. He went to school at Lutcher Stark High School. He married Linda S. Wood on April 12, 1968 in Orange, Texas. He graduated from Houston Baptist University in February 1968, and was drafted into the U.S. Army the next day, where he served as a Chaplain’s Assistant and Recruiter for 20 years. He sang for decades with The Barbershop Harmony Society, a/k/a the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc., for chapel services at Fort Monmouth, NJ, and church choirs. He enjoyed his time as a member of the New Braunfels Theatre Company where he performed in such productions as A Christmas Carol, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, Guys and Dolls, Pirates of Penzance, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, among many others.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, J.V. and Mary McDonald, and sisters, Martha Pepper, Marie Sarver, and Betty Whitener).
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter, Lani Prado, his son, Lyle McDonald and daughter-in-law, Jennifer McDonald, his sisters, Cynthia Worthy, Patsy Miller, and brother Johnny McDonald, and grandchildren, Emma Fleming, Kyran and Kayla Prado and Sophia McDonald.
In lieu of funeral services, Viewing/Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, January 15, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home in San Antonio with refreshments provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
The family of Lloyd McDonald wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Good Shepherd Hospice, fellow soldier and chapel choir member Ron Bowren, family John and Susie Prado, and high school classmates, Chuck Wilson, Wanda Holts Reinert, and Pat Butler Dyson.
