

Lois was born to George Fawcett and Eleanor Schwenk Howe in Clairton, Pennsylvania on Feb. 21, 1920. She graduated from Clairton High School and went on to the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1942 with a degree in English. She married her high school sweetheart, Dean Elson, on Jan 14, 1943 and they were happily married for 77 years until his death in September. Lois traveled the U.S. hand in hand with her husband during his career with the FBI. Wherever they lived, Lois made lifelong friends.
Lois loved to play the piano and sing her favorite hymns. She was a prolific writer, particularly of poetry, but teaching was her gift. She taught public school as well as Sunday School in her church. She loved working with young people who recognized that she was forever young at heart. She was an encouraging and knowledgeable teacher, one with great faith, kindness, quick wit, and a contagious smile. Lois lived her life to the Glory of God.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dean W. Elson, and her son Dean II who both passed away earlier this year. She is survived by her daughter, Debby Elson Neighbarger (Rich), granddaughter Kelly Brown (Greg), and two great grandsons, Brayden and Carson Brown , all of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday, Jan 15, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church, 404 N. Alamo in San Antonio. Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller officiating.
