Lorenzo Amador Ortiz

Lorenzo Amador Ortiz, a beloved and incredibly special person, passed away on December 28th, 2023. Lorenzo was born on September 18th, 1939 in Cotulla, TX to Epigmenia Rodriguez Ortiz and to Lorenzo Ortiz Jr. - one of eight children. He is preceded in death by his mother, his father and brother Arcenio (Archie). He spent most of his life living in San Antonio with his wife of 52 years, Amparo Hurtado Ortiz and children Edward, Mark, Stephanie, and granddaughter Kayla. Lorenzo was a gem of a human being with the kindest of hearts, the best sense of humor and gentlest of spirits. There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible he was as a husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, uncle, family member and friend to those around him. He was adored by anyone who had the honor of knowing him. A devout Catholic and parishioner at St. Marks Catholic Church, he and his wife Amparo would sit in the first few rows every single Sunday for mass. He was a graduate of South San Antonio High School and one of the first Latinos to attend and graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked for over 20 years at Frost Bank as a Computer Programmer. Known for his quick wit, jokes, intelligence, grilling skills, his pecan pie, his abundance of love, humility and calm disposition, the imprint he left on those around him will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife, children, granddaughter and siblings Amparo (Ampie), Alma, Alba, Albert, Amadeo and Angel.

It truly was an honor and a blessing to have a person like Lorenzo in your life. He will be sorely missed. For a man of such small stature, he left the biggest of impacts in this world and will be carried in the hearts of those who loved him.

A visitation for Lorenzo will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232, with a rosary service to begin at 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark The Evangelist, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio, TX 78232.
