He is survived by his wife, Elaine Dixie Kaufman; son, Kenny Kaufman and wife, Sharon; daughters, Sharon Kaufman Miller, and Fran Cohen and husband, Philip; grandchildren, Nathan Kaufman, Rachel Kaufman, Benjamin Kaufman and Noble Cohen.
He was a member of Temple Beth-El, a life member of NRA, and a life member of the San Antonio Sail and Power Squadron.
Sonny's family owned the Kaufman Store for many years which is now the location of the Justice Center.
In his later years, he had the first Red Wing Store in San Antonio on Military Drive.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt, special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Arden Courts, the activities director at Arden Courts and the Heartland Hospice workers who took great care of Sonny.
