Louise T. Pruitt-Adkins

Louise, her four brothers and two sisters grew up in rural Alabama. Surviving siblings are James Pruitt of Victoria Mississippi; Billy Pruitt of Hartselle, Alabama; and Margaret Kaiser of Brownsville, Tennessee.

Blessed with two loving husbands during her lifetime, Louise was first married to O.D. Pruitt for 40 years until his passing in 1984. They raised three children while residing in Memphis, Tennessee: Kenneth W. Pruitt (Bonnie) of San Antonio, Texas; Jimmy D. Pruitt (Beverly) of Cumming, Georgia; and Sharon Jackson (Ed) of San Antonio, Texas. There are now four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren from the Pruitt family.

Louise married William L. Adkins in 1989 and in the process acquired two more adult sons: Robert L. Adkins (Dale) of Franklin, Virginia; and Richard E. Adkins (Susan) of Cumming, Georgia. Three additional grandchildren also became part of Louise's family and currently there are two great-grandchildren on the Adkins roster. Bill and Louise began their married life in Bartlett, Tennessee where they were members of Bartlett Baptist Church. They relocated to San Antonio, Texas in 1997 where they shared their life until Bill passed in 2003. They were members of Crossroads Baptist Church and Louise continued her fellowship there until illness limited her active participation. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and mentor, Louise's warmth and caring touched everyone she came in contact with. During the past two years her family of loved ones expanded to include the staff and fellow residents of Arden Courts in San Antonio. She loved us all and was loved in return. She will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Forest Hill East Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten, Memphis, Tennessee. Interment will follow in Forrest Hill East Cemetery.
