Louise Scott Stahl was born in Star City, Arkansas, on 3 October 1926 and died peacefully at home in San Antonio, Texas, on 21 December 2023. Mom grew up in Arkansas surrounded by a large extended family then moved with her parents, sister, and brother to the Rio Grande Valley where she graduated from high school. Upon graduation, she attended Texas A&I College where she was a cheerleader and Lantana Queen. Mom married our father, C.R. Dick Stahl, and began her life as a housewife and mom. This is written by her daughter, Deborah Livingston, with the help of my two brothers.
Mom was an active and enthusiastic member of Trinity Baptist church. She taught Sunday School and joyfully sang in the Sonshine Singers. She loved old hymns and would whistle, hum, and sing them throughout the day. Mom taught kindergarten at Woodland Hall Preschool in Houston for several years. One of her greatest pleasures was her daily fast walk through her neighborhood with friends. They called themselves the Walkie Talkies and kept this morning walk going for many years. Mom was a member of the Discimus Study Club where she enjoyed monthly luncheons and programs with “The Discimus Girls.”
Mom follows in death her parents, Ben and Allie Mae Scott, her sister, Bennye Jean Morgan, her brother, Robbie Scott, and her husband, C.R. Dick Stahl. She leaves her children Bubba Stahl, David Stahl, and me. Also surviving are her grandchildren Joanna Lessard and family, Amanda Satterfield and family, Ben Stahl and family, Dan Stahl and family, Raul Sanchez and family, and great-niece Marisa Daniels and family. Mom delighted in her twelve great-grandchildren and lived to see her great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank Juana Quinrino for her dedication to Mom and the staff at VITAS Healthcare for their excellent care, especially Amy, Liz, Kimberly, John, Ronald and Emily.
