

On Wednesday, November 16, Lt. Col. Herbert V. White (USAF Retired) a beloved husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home. He was eighty-seven. Born to Ruth and John White, in Monroe, Louisiana, Herb attended UCLA where he was a distinguished military graduate in the ROTC and commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force.
After being assigned to RAF Station Sculthorpe, England, he met Valerie Anne Tee, who became his wife. They were together for sixty four years. After retiring from the USAF, Herb earned his MFA from UTSA and went on to teach art and biology at Madison High School in San Antonio, TX.
Herb was a long time member of Shearer Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX. He was also a member of the Texas Baptist Men and helped with disaster relief. He and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the US and across Europe.
Herb is survived by his wife, Valerie White; his children, Andrew White and his wife Susanne of Bruggen, Germany, Claire White Thomas and her husband Michael of Van Alstyne, TX; four grandchildren, Kristen Travo, Courtney Ballou, Charlotte Thomas, Colin Thomas; three great grandchildren, Noah Ballou, Grace Ballou, Annabelle Travo; and a host of family members and longtime friends from around the world.
