Lucia G. De La Cruz entered eternal rest on July 29, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 13, 1940, in Falls City, Texas, to Antonio and Rita Guevara, Lucia lived a life full of love, laughter, and a touch of luck that seemed to follow her wherever she went.
A woman with a vibrant spirit, Lucia found joy in life’s simple pleasures — especially the thrill of the slot machines at Coushatta and Kickapoo, and the occasional scratch-off ticket. Known affectionately as a lucky lady, she often kept her winnings to herself, adding a dash of mystery to her charm.
Lucia loved attending Fiesta events, especially trips to Market Square and the carnival. In her younger days, she joyfully rode all the rides — fearless and full of life, always chasing fun and making memories with those around her.
She was also drawn to music and dancing, always happiest where the rhythm flowed. But above all, her heart belonged to her family. She was a wife, loving mother, and treasured grandmother whose warmth, wisdom, and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Lucia is now reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Antonio and Rita Guevara; her son, Edwardo De La Cruz Jr.; her grandson, Matthew S. Guajardo; and her brothers and sisters. We find peace in knowing she is once again surrounded by their love.
She leaves behind her husband, Edwardo E. De La Cruz; her sons, Rogelio De La Cruz (Sylvia) and Jorge De La Cruz; her daughters, Juanita De La Cruz, Sandra Montoya, and Desiree De La Cruz; and her daughter-in-law, Maryann De La Cruz. Lucia is also survived by her brothers, Rosendo, Gilbert, and Jimmy; her sister, Ofelia; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews — all of whom were touched by her enduring love and spirit.
Lucia’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her — through stories shared, laughter echoed, and the love she so freely gave.
Rest in peace, Lucia. Your light will never fade.
