Lucia Salas Martinez

Lucia "Lucy" Martinez of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the blessed age of 87.

She is reunited in eternal rest with her parents Isidro Salas, Sr and Eloisa Morales Salas, her daughter Diane Elizabeth, husband Onesimo (Tony) Martinez, sisters Virginia Garza, Stella Vargas, Mary Arrambide, brothers Richard Salas and Isidro Salas, Jr.

She is survived by her brother Francisco (Frank) Salas and his wife Micaela; sisters Josie (Bolo) Luna and her husband Richard; Esther Martinez and her husband Joe; grandsons Jonathan Woods and his wife Erin; and Michael Woods; great grandchildren, Aubrielle Woods, Alexander Woods, Jayden Woods, Jonathan Woods, and Madelyn Woods; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, cousins, and a host of friends.

Lucy was married to Tony Martinez for 35 years, and together had one child, Diane Elizabeth (Pepto). Diane married and made them the proud grandparents of Jonathan and Michael Woods. Lucy was a wonderful, caring, and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, best known to her grandchildren as "Mamo."

Lucy worked for many years as a Beautician and became a Cosmetology Instructor at Alamo Beauty College and Audie and Joice Beauty School. She later went to work at Kelly Air Force Base and retired after 27 years from Civil Service. She was proud of all her accomplishments during her Civil Service career.

She loved to read, watch novelas, and cook. Among her best recipes was her delicious potato salad she made for family gatherings.

She had a heart of gold, her smile was priceless and was loved, admired, and respected. She was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.

She leaves a legacy of love, warmth and family memories that will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

The Martinez family will receive guests on September 6, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, with a Memorial Service honoring Lucy beginning at 2:00 p.m.
