

Lydia Dalia Gonzalez Zamarripa entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. She was born to Cleofas Gonzalez and Inez Villagran Gonzalez on May 8th, 1938, in Benavides, Texas in Duval County. Lydia was an elect lady, a virtuous woman of faith, whose mission on earth was to be a humble servant of the Lord. Lydia served in many organizational capacities for her church. She served as a primary teacher, a church youth leader, a Relief Society President (women’s organization). At the age of 21, Lydia served an 18-month service mission for her church. She later served a 2-year mission alongside her husband Jose Zamarripa at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Home Storage Center. Lydia’s passion was Genealogy work, often spending hours on end helping family members and friends with their ancestry lineage. She was an Educator, spending years at a local elementary school assisting and teaching computer lab class. Lydia’s legacy of service will live on as she touched many lives both young and young at heart.
Lydia was one of eleven children. She is reunited in spirit with her parents (Cleofas and Inez Gonzalez), and siblings- Viola Lopez, Margarita Phillips, Roberto Alonzo Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez, Baldemar Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, and Leonardo Gonzalez. Surviving siblings are Guadalupe Gonzalez, Letisea Trevino, and Christina Ramirez.
Lydia is also survived by daughter, Maria Urbana “Bonnie” Becerra (Cosme); grandsons, Nathan C. Becerra (Hilary); Zachary T. Becerra (Michelle); granddaughter, Bonnie N. Vella (Jon); daughter, Ruth Ann Aranda (Juan); grandsons, Thomas X. Aranda (Primrose); Samuel S. Aranda (Amber); Aaron N. Aranda (Mirthala); granddaughter, Aimee D. Aranda; son, Joe G. Zamarripa (Laurie); grandsons, Jacob M. Zamarripa (Maren); Joshua D. Zamarripa (Mackenzie); granddaughter, Sarah E. Aguilera (Jordan). Additionally, she leaves behind fourteen of her sixteen great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 7420 Huebner Rd., Leon Valley, Texas 78240 on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Procession to San Fernando Cemetery #2 will follow immediately after the conclusion of the church service. Floral arrangements can be sent to Porter Loring Mortuary West by 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
