

Manuel Ochoa, Jr. went to be with the Lord September 5, 2015 at the age of seventy. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Ochoa, Sr., brother Avelino, and sister Viola Avalos. Born November 8, 1944, Manuel was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1963 and later St. Phillip’s College with an AS in Automotive Mechanics. He worked as a licensed barber before being drafted by the U.S. Army. Manuel proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era where he was stationed in Korea. Manuel worked in his father’s garage, Ochoa’s Conoco, on Nogalitos St. after returning from active duty. He later served again during Operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm with the 238th Maintenance Company, United Stated Army Reserve, San Antonio Tx. Manuel retired from the 238th having obtained the rank of Sargent First Class. After nearly 30 years of service Manuel retired from Kelly Air Force Base where he served as an RCC chief and later an Engineering Technician. Manuel’s lifelong passion was hunting and the outdoors and he was an active, longtime member of the San Antonio Target, Hunting & Fishing Club on Hausman Rd. He loved working at the Club and participating in events there for more than 25 years. Manuel is survived by his wife, Irene Ochoa; mother Elvira Ochoa; sons Mario A Ochoa and wife Jennifer, Victor M Ochoa and wife Veronica; grandchildren Christopher, Lauren, Jessica, Cristian, Carlos, Giana, Lina and Elena and Manuel’s loving sister Rebecca Ochoa. Dad was a great man; a great father, grandfather, brother, and son. He was a friend to all and his likes we will surely never see again. A visitation will begin, Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 5:00pm at the Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm that same evening. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel, Friday, September 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with a procession to follow for interment in San Fernando Cemetery II.
