Marcelino Flores, a beloved family man and dedicated community volunteer, entered into the loving arms our Lord on September 6, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 25, 1929 to parents, Andrea Regino and Marcelino Flores. Marcelino was the youngest of four children.
Marcelino was a proud graduate of Lanier High School, where he played on the varsity basketball team from 1945 to 1949. Known for his artistic side, Marcelino had a passion for crafts and drawing, and he was always eager to pass on his love of creativity to his family. His greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, especially when they participated in sports. Marcelino was a constant presence at their games, cheering them on with pride.
A dedicated member of the community, Marcelino volunteered with the Kennedy Rockets Band Boosters from 1979 to 1980, offering his support and enthusiasm for local youth activities. He also assisted at the Edgewood High School voting sites, passing out voter cards and ensuring the democratic process ran smoothly.
Professionally, Marcelino served as a social worker at San Juan Homes, and Casiano Homes, where he worked tirelessly to help families in need. His commitment to service extended to his church, San Martin de Porres, where he would often be found cutting the grass or lending a hand wherever needed at
One of the most cherished traditions in Marcelino’s life was his role as "Santa" at Las Palmas, where he would dress up and pass out toys to children during the holiday season. His love for spreading joy and making people smile was a hallmark of his character. Marcelino also had a love for music and enjoyed singing, a passion that brought happiness not only to him but to those around him.
He will be reunited in heaven with his wife, Peggy C. Flores; and parents, Andrea and Marcelino Flores Sr.
Marcelino’s memory will forever live in his loving children; Vivian, John, Anthony, Ida, Theresa, Marcelino; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and creativity that will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched in the community.
