Marcia Jean Mandel passed away on March 22, 2026. Born on June 16, 1950, in San Antonio, TX., she dedicated her life to her family and her career. Having graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University as a social worker, she later tackled the real estate market with her father, Aaron Mandel.
Marcia was an avid baker and was especially known for her cheesecakes, which she loved sharing with friends and family during special occasions. She also had a lifelong love of travel, traversing the continental United States by car and eventually traveling the world with her long-term partner, Charles Hankins, including her most recent adventure in Iceland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose (Precious) and Aaron Mandel, and her sister, Ellen. Marcia is survived by her children, Sam Woodcoff, Doug Woodcoff (Aria), and Leah Mandel-Robinson (Tim); her grandson, Aaron McCurry; her sister, Rene Wender (Marty); Ben Mandel (Lydia); as well as many nieces, nephews, and a close-knit community of friends who will remember her kindness and hospitality.
A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held to honor her memory and the many lives she touched. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Temple Beth-El Palmetto Cemetery (1400 Crocket, San Antonio, Texas 78202). A reception will follow at Temple Beth-El (211 Belknap Pl, San Antonio, Texas 78212)
