Margaret Franco Alvarez passed away on January 28th, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born in San Angelo, Texas, on January 14th, 1932, to Carmen Torres Franco & Selso Parra Franco. She grew up in the small community of Knickerbocker, Texas where she remained until meeting the love of her life at a county dance. She married Antonio Garcia Alvarez in 1952 and they began their family. Beginning their lives in San Angelo, Texas, they soon moved to San Antonio, Texas, where they remained and married until her recent passing. She had four children with Antonio and was an inspiration to them and their friends. Her children, Aaron, Joseph, Anita & Anthony all grew up in Castle Hills, TX just outside of San Antonio and attended Robert E Lee High School. Margaret is survived by her sister, Cecilia of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Anita of San Antonio; son, Joseph & wife Kathy of Atlanta, GA; son, Anthony of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Robert Edward of San Antonio; granddaughter, Elise Kristin; great grandson, Dean Franco of San Antonio; as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Aaron Franco Alvarez; husband, Antonio Garcia Alvarez; parents, Selso & Carmen Franco of Knickerbocker, TX; brothers and sisters, Arthur, Edward, Eloise, and Elizabeth. Family was the most important part of Margaret’s life along with her faith and membership of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She took pride and pleasure in being a great homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed the holidays when she could have her family all back together at home. She was an ardent supporter of Robert E. Lee High School where all her children attended, played sports, and graduated. Through her support, each of her children earned their college degrees and post college degrees and continued success through their lives. Of that, she was very proud. Margaret loved everything Hallmark. From cards to Hummel figurines, she collected them all. But mostly, Margaret was not only there for her family, but for the community. Her home was constantly being overrun by her children and their friends. Whether it was football in the front yard, tennis in the driveway or basketball games in a driveway court. She would be there, with food, lemonade, and ice-tea. She affected many children of the community and provided an example of Love, respect, and dignity. There are many who possess fond memories of Margaret. She will be missed but exalted.
