

Margaret Wheeler Kemp was born to a US Army family in Paris France on September 20, 1927. She lived her life as a member of the Army community, and died March 20, 2023 at the Army Residence Community in San Antonio Texas. Her life is celebrated, and she will be greatly missed.
Margaret was known by her friends and family, children, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Margie, Mom, and Honey. As an Army dependent and spouse, she traveled the world to various duty stations in the USA, Central America, and Europe. After retirement she was an active volunteer within the San Antonio community with Saint David’s Episcopal Church, Kiwanis Club, Army Residence Community scholarship fund, and the Assistance League of San Antonio.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, COL (Ret) Richard Bryan Wheeler and Margaret Wheeler, and her husband COL (Ret) Harry Monroe Kemp. She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Jean Heard; her children, Margaret “Peggy” Wheeler Hamilton (Patrick McEvoy), Harry “Buck” Monroe Kemp Jr, LTC (Ret) Richard “Dick” Kemp (Clementine, former wife Jennifer Wallwin); her grandchildren, Peter Monroe Hamilton (Amber, former wife Margaret Swann), Jessica Nicole Kemp, Morgan Ashley Kemp, Richard Patrick McEvoy (Lauren), Bryan Wheeler Kemp (Sara), Margaret “Mardie” Dierdre Cornitius (Kaleb), John Harry Kemp, and Christine “Tina” Margaret Kemp; her great-grandchildren, who with John and Tina, gave her great joy in her later years, Kathleen Isabel Hamilton, Victoria Melanie-Rose Hamilton, Jayden Ashley Musoff, June Meera Kemp, and Carter Kevin McEvoy.
A Memorial service will be held at the Army Residence Community to be follow by Margie joining her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
