
Margaret Elizabeth Westbrook died Thursday, September 9, 2004, in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born in Dallas, Texas, on July 2, 1922, to Bertha and Lee Patrick Tully and graduated from Sunset High School in 1938.
In May of 1942, she graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and English Literature, and married Lieutenant Clyde H. Westbrook, Jr. on August 5, 1942, in Gadsden, Alabama. During his thirty years of service in the U.S. Army, they lived at various locations in the United States and Europe. Following his retirement from active duty, they spent sixteen years in Lubbock, Texas where she actively participated in a variety of civic and charitable organizations.
At the time of her death, she was living in the Army Residence Community in San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Col. Clyde H. Westbrook, Jr., and is survived by her daughter, Marie Burns and her husband, Hayden, of Houston; her sons: John Tully Westbrook of Springfield, Virginia; James Van Ness Westbrook and wife, Nili, Michael W. Westbrook, and Clyde R. Dick Westbrook and wife, Patricia, all of Houston, Texas; her granddaughters: Elizabeth Burns of Houston, Sarah Winfrey of Houston; her grandsons: Webb Burns and wife, Molly, of Roanoke, Virginia; Daniel Glenn Westbrook of Springfield, Virginia; Anthony L. Sutton and his wife Stacey of Round Rock, Texas; and her great grandson, Robert Hayden Burns, of Roanoke, Virginia.
